Gareth Rees Seminar - The Value and Use of Communication and Collaboration in English Language Teaching
On 18 April, Longman Pearson and Berberoglu Bookshop sponsored a presentation by Gareth Rees on the Value and Use of Communication and Collaboration in English Language Teaching. Gareth discussed the skills of communication and collaboration within the 21st Century classroom and the role of this within a wider educational setting.
Gareth Rees works at the University of the Arts London, and is currently Course Leader for EAP Overseas, and Course Leader for Cultural Awareness and Inter-cultural Communication. He is the co-author on the Language Leader series (Pearson) and writes for the BBC Learning English website.

SFL shares experience and expertise on CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for languages) at the Ministry of Education
On Friday, 23 March 2012, SFL Assitant Director, Cigdem Tuncergil and SFL Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) Chair Pembe Nurcan Garip gave a seminar on CEFR at the Ministry of Education. State school teachers who are going to work on the committee responsible for aligning the English curriculum to CEFR in primary, secondary and vocational school education attended the seminar. In the seminar, Cigdem and Nurcan shared SFL experiences in revising the General English and Academic English programmes based on CEFR. Chief inspector Berna Yılmazoğlu Özdoğa thanked everyone for attending the seminar but especially SFL representatives and SFL for sharing their knowledge and experiences as well as for agreeing to help them as consultants whenever they need support.
